🌲 McCraw Family Reunion 2027 – What to Expect!

We wanted to share a few more details about how the weekend will work. The goal is pretty simple: good food, lots of stories and laughter, time together, and a chance to reconnect with our family and where we come from. ❤️

🍲 Meals – Everyone Chips In!

Our main meals will be potluck-style, with everyone pitching in. We’re thinking good, hearty camping meals like spaghetti, hamburger soup, pork chops and other family favourites.

A cooking water tank will be available on site, and everyone should bring their own camping gear, tents, campers and personal supplies.

We’ll share more about meal planning and who is bringing what as we get closer so we don't end up with 14 pots of spaghetti! 😂

🎉 Things to Do

There will be lots happening throughout the weekend, including:

  • 🎣 Derby

  • 📻 Radio Bingo

  • 🏊 Swimming

  • 🚗 “Where We Lived” excursions – a chance to visit places connected to our family history

  • 🧳 Souvenir & Story Tent – bring a personal or family treasure, keepsake, photograph or meaningful item and share the story behind it

  • 📸 Family photo viewing – a screen will be available, so bring along those old family pictures!

  • 🎶 Music, visiting and storytelling

  • 🔥 Evening gatherings around the fire pit

We want everyone to have fun, but we also want to be respectful of those camping and of our neighbours. Quiet-down time will be around midnight.

🐾 A Note About Pets

Pets are welcome, but you must have full control of your pets at all times and clean up after them.

During our main meals, dogs and other pets should be gated, tied appropriately, or kept in your camper and away from the eating area.

Food, crowds and unfamiliar dogs can be a bad combination. We don't want a dog fight, a pet getting hurt, or someone getting injured. Keeping pets away from the main eating area during meals will make things safer and more enjoyable for everyone.

🔥 Fire Ban

We're hoping there won't be a fire ban, but Mother Nature gets the final say!

If a fire ban is in effect, we will follow all applicable restrictions and make alternate arrangements for our evening gathering if permitted, such as an approved propane heating option.

🏊 Swimming & Children

There will be swimming available, but there are no lifeguards on site.

Parents and caregivers are responsible for supervising their children at all times, especially around the water. Please don't assume someone else is watching them.

🍺 Alcohol, Cannabis & Drugs

We want the reunion to be welcoming and comfortable for everyone, especially because children will be part of our gathering.

Illegal drugs are not permitted.

Alcohol is allowed, and we ask everyone who chooses to drink to drink responsibly and socially.

Legal cannabis use should also be respectful of others. Please move well away and downwind from the main gathering, eating areas and children when smoking. Not everyone enjoys or wants to be around the smell or smoke.

The basic rule is simple: your choices shouldn't interfere with someone else's ability to enjoy the reunion.

❤️ Respect Comes First

We're family. There will be different personalities, generations and lifestyles gathered together, and that's part of what makes a reunion special.

Have fun. Have a drink if you choose. Tell stories. Play music. Laugh too loud before midnight. 😄

But aggressive, threatening, dangerous or seriously disruptive behaviour will not be tolerated. Anyone creating a significant safety issue or refusing to respect the gathering may be asked to leave. If someone refuses to leave when required, police may be contacted.

Most importantly, let's look after one another.

Come ready to eat, laugh, remember, explore, tell stories and make some new memories together.
